There is no single answer to that question. It depends not only on your availability and financial situation, but also which level you are at in your recovery. It is always important to consider what other support you have and how long it may take you to master and use the tools that are given to you. One thing is for sure - there is no way to fail. Also, there is not or ever will be a set of expectations or any pressure put upon you. It is important to keep up with your sessions to ensure that you are continuing on the path to recovery.

For binge eating, compulsive overeating and bulimia, we advise weekly sessions in person, by phone or online. We will ask you to complete a Food Log so that together we can find out what is triggering the problem and take steps to find the proper tools you need. We work holistically to deal with habits that no longer serve you. Difficult emotions surrounding self worth, body image, nutritional issues and food are the main obstacles that are standing in the way of your health and wellbeing. A treatment programme will always be created and adapted to suit your personal needs.

Virtual consultations are effective and can be very useful if you find it hard to see a counsellor in person. You will call in at the scheduled time each week and you will be given guidance on what to do in between sessions. These recommendations will be designed to aid in the journey of recovering from your emotional eating/eating disorder.

Absolutely YES! Recovery is possible with the proper support and help that is best for you. You CAN feel in control around food and be free of obsessive thoughts and behaviours as well as constant worries about food and weight. Recovery is much more than making peace with food. It is about managing your feelings, relating well to other people and being able to live the life you are meant to live. Recovery does not only involve healing your own body and mind. It also entails repairing relationships that have been damaged and broken due to your commitment to the disorder. We fully understand that you may feel bad about the time, energy or money spent on maintaining your eating disorder, but we will help you work toward finding a new direction and purpose.

The live in support program is a very unique package and will require you to have a couple of sessions before we can put it into place. This is because it takes time and careful thought to prepare and create a uniquely fitting program for you. Please read more details about the program (Services) and do not hesitate to ask any additional questions. Should you feel that this would be the best fit for you, let us know as early as possible so that we can start making arrangements and preparations.
